Terre Alte
d'Alpago
“Listen—do you hear voices, too?”
“Yes, a low murmur, faint and fleeting…”
“What are they saying?”
“They speak of sweat and soil, of vine-row and cane, of clusters and leaves.
They sing of toil and the hope of seeing grapes turn to nectar.
They whisper ancient wisdom…”
OUR PHILOSOPHY
Between tradition and innovation
Safeguarding tradition also means daring to innovate.
In 2015 we launched the Alpago Resistant Vines Project, selecting varieties that thrive naturally here, shrug off disease and need minimal intervention.
We grow Solaris, Bronner, Muscaris, Souvignier Gris, Cabernet Cortis and Prior, crafting wines that are authentic, expressive and sustainable.
WHO WE ARE
Born of a love for the land
Answering an ancestral call, Terre Alte d’Alpago brushed the dust off a forgotten winemaking heritage in this rugged corner between grassy mountains and the emerald Lake Santa Croce, swept by its gentle zephyr, 600–1,000 m above sea level.
From the 18th to the 20th century Alpago wine was enjoyed at home and served in “frasche”—tiny taverns flagged by green branches—traded above all with nearby Treviso and Vittorio Veneto.
A handful of visionary dreamers listened to that silent call and replanted vines—this time resistant cultivars.
Deep-rooted yet forward-looking: that is how Terre Alte d’Alpago came to life.
THE ORIGINS
Winemaking since 1700
By 1786 Alpago wine was already being produced and sold legally.
A document signed by Marzio Doglioni in the Chancellery of the Magnificent City of Belluno grants Francesco di Lorenzo Soccal of Garna the right to retail Belluno wine from his own vineyards—precious proof of our deep-rooted viticultural culture.
THE PROJECT
Alpago Resistant Vines Project
In 2015 a group of passionate beginners chose grape varieties that stand tall against fungal diseases—sturdy, proud, superior to the classics.
Thus the project was born, trialling white Solaris, Bronner, Muscaris, Souvignier Gris and red Cabernet Cortis, Prior.
The challenge: craft wines you’ll never forget.
In 2015, a group of amateurs—beginners with the pride and ambition to become winemakers—decided to experiment with grape varieties different from those of tradition, varieties that are superb, bold, and remarkably resistant to fungal diseases.
It was in this context that the Project Viti Resistenti Alpago was born. The members of the Terre Alte d’Alpago agricultural company are the founders and promoters of the initiative, experimenting with white grape varieties such as Solaris, Bronner, Muscaris, and Souvignier Gris, as well as red grape varieties like Cabernet Cortis and Prior.
The challenge? To create wines that are truly unforgettable.
SPARKLING WINE – BRUT
VINTAGE – BRONNER
Sgrìsol
In dialect it means “shiver”: may every sip deliver the same thrill we felt while creating it.
Its hue closes the material circle begun by our other labels, evoking Alpago soil.
VENETO IGT – BRONNER
Trame
The name and graphics evoke the dense weave of human ties spun by the project and, in the vineyard, the paths traced by shoots, tendrils and leaves. It also echoes an old local family name.
The soft green recalls meadows of fresh grass.
VENETO IGT – SOLARIS
Soratesa
A tribute to the villages once called Sopra Tesa—“above the Tesa stream”, watershed of Alpago—under the Serenissima.
The pale sky blue mirrors the vault that crowns our mountains.
VENETO IGT – CABERNET CORTIS
Ràrus
A play on the site-name Rus and the Latin rarus—rare, precious, extraordinary.
